FAQs

  • Acupuncture is one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture uses hair-thin needles to stimulate specific points of the body to achieve balance. Their insertion is hardly noticed by most and felt only as a small pinch, slight ache, or warm tingling sensation by others.

All the needles are sterile stainless steel and disposed of after every single use.

The acupuncture points are located on what we call meridians, which are the pathways which energy and blood flows throughout the body. When these meridians are blocked disease can manifest in the body. The acupuncture needles are placed in specific locations dependent on each patient's needs to restore circulation and balance — this can be seen as the regulation of hormone levels, sleep cycles, energy levels, emotions, the immune system, and more! Once balance is restored the body can function again at an optimal level allowing the body to heal and gain resilience to prevent future ailments.

  • For over twenty-three centuries, Traditional Chinese Medicine has diagnosed, treated, and prevented illness. The philosophy proposes a way of life based on living in accordance with the laws of nature. The goal of Traditional Chinese Medicine is to normalize the body’s energy in order to restore health and prevent disease. TCM consists of five branches: acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, Asian bodywork, and exercise.

  • Chinese herbs are one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many drugs listed as conventional medicine were derived from plants. Most herbal formulas, some of them thousands of years old, are created to help the body become balanced so that it can function at full capacity, rather than merely masking symptoms. Chinese herbs treat the underlying condition and rarely cause unwanted side effects. In addition, most Chinese herbs can be taken safely with pharmaceutical medications.

  • Asian bodywork is one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The techniques recognize and nurture the integrity of the body’s own natural harmony. Pressure is applied instead of inserting needles to balance internal functions. Bodywork can resolve imbalances of all sorts, and in all people, from infants to the elderly.

At Light Family Acupuncture, we will assess your needs and utilize Asian bodywork as needed. Our relaxing private rooms provide the perfect atmosphere to allow you the time and peace of mind to experience bodywork and let you get more in touch with your body in a new way.

  • Item descriptionRecent studies have shown that there is almost double the likelihood of achieving pregnancy with Chinese herbal medicine than with western drug therapy- and that over a four month period pregnancy rates were 60% for those treated with Chinese herbal medicine verses 32% for IVF drug treatment. TCM treats both the root and the symptoms of the condition. Success rates are even higher with this pre-natal approach.
